Identity crisis

(Pay attention to the bold and italicized letters.  You’ll see why it matters when you read all the way through.)

At a baseball game with Matt, who is visiting with us, B becomes distracted, and hugs a random man sitting in the row in front of us.  The man, a middle-aged gentleman, doesn’t even attempt a smile.

Mom, horrified – B!!!  What are you doing?!!

B– I thought he was uncle Matt.

Mom – This is why I have been telling you all night to pay attention, B.  See what happens when you become distracted?  You really need to stay focused and watch where you are going and follow directions.  Uncle Matt is sitting at the end of the row, and you hugged a man in the row in front of us, and blah blah blah blah blah…on and on

B – Okay. (Pause) I’m R.
